Relaxing day
Today was a fantastic relaxing day: writing in the blog, sending out e-mails about the car and apartment. All followed by several hours at the pool. The only damage being two sunburned boys who refused to believe that they would get sunburned. Luckily they started to feel it themselves and put on the cream half way through the process. Experience is also learning.
The evening was followed by a visit to Petaling Street Market where all the new teachers met for dinner at a terrific Chinese restaurant. Loved the food! The traditional Chinese dishes on offer including garlic eggplant, sizzling beef, lemon chicken, ribs, garlic shrimp, and some great new vegetarian dishes I hadn't had before.
The boys didn't much like the market part as it was really quite reminiscent of markets in Uzbekistan. Although the goods were at a bit higher quality, it was mostly modern items at a high price that we were told needs to be bargained down to about 30% of the offered price. We definitely did not feel like doing the bargaining.
A quiet return to the hotel has been brilliant, and we are just enjoying resting before going to bed. Tomorrow the boys will be taken to a Butterfly park by one of the partners of one of our teachers. A very kind offer! I will spend the entire day at school tomorrow meeting people and in general having the first real full day at work. The boys' dad arrives on Tuesday evening, and they will be spending the next week and half with him which will give me time to move, settle in and begin planning. All together the next week should be quite good if everything falls into place.
