Apartment hunting

Today was a very long, hot and sweaty day of apartment and car hunting. The agents that were organized to show us around took us to only a few places. The tone was set when the first agent suddenly asked, oh you wanted to see the apartments also, I just thought I was giving you a tour of the area! Supposedly he was given the brief to show a few apartments, but hadn't really listened. We were taken to a few locations that the Elementary principal quickly set up, but the locations were too expensive for the majority of us all as they were admin apartments, albeit nice apartments. One had a fantastic pool that the boys loved, but it would simply be 1000 RMB above our budget...

The next agent did a better job, and was quite nice, but she also only showed one apartment that was too small for a family and too expensive. Then our last location was meant only for singles, but not even the singles liked the apartments themselves, although the facilities were really quite nice. The floor plans were just not right for anyone.

Then we went to the car location where the dealer seemed very knowledgeable, and helpful, but let us know that he had very little on the lot as another school of 100 teachers had just come and essentially purchased all the cars on the lot... But I played the single mum card, and he let me know that he has one car coming in this weekend that is a manual (stick shift) which is not much liked by most drivers, and he could offer me a nice deal on it. He will save it for me and call on the weekend to let me come and test drive it. Although I am a bit worried about driving a manual on the wrong side of the road, I think the price is right. We will find out.

We ended the day with a fantastic swim in the hotel pool with many of my colleagues. It was very nice and cool, as well as relaxing.

Tomorrow we are going to the Putrajaya area to look at apartments. If we see something we like we just might grab it right away! Wish us luck! We also look forward to meeting up with some Latvian friends in the evening who will be visiting Malaysia this week. It seems as if we might have many such visitors in the future.
