Finally we will see some of Malaysia

Before the boys left for Saudi Arabia we talked about trying to travel somewhere upon their return for the Chinese New Year break which is 5 days long.  They decided that they wanted to travel to Penang.  Penang is an island off the North West coast of Malaysia, not too far from Thailand.  There are a lot of wonderful beaches, a spice plantation, and historic locations to visit.  The most interesting part will likely be that Penang has a huge Chinese population, so the Chinese New Year celebrations should be interesting to experience.  We hope to get the full experience of dancing dragons for this year of the dragon, loud music, fireworks, and delicious Chinese food.

After the boys decided on the location I was lucky enough to find a fantastic deal on a very nice hotel that we can afford for the three days.  To make the trip even more affordable we will be driving up to Penang, and crossing the Penang bridge, which is also supposed to be an experience in iteself.  All in all we will have an inexpensive trip and hopefully a fantastic time!  We leave on Saturday and return on Wednesday - both days very early in the morning to avoid the traffic that is likely to be around due to all of those of Chinese heritage wanting to return home.

We are all very excited to venture out together and see something new.  We will be staying in Tanjung Bungah which is just a little north of Georgetown.  This is close enough to either take the bus in if we want to avoid parking issues for the New Year celebrations.  Here is a link to the hotel we will stay in:

Keep looking for the inevitable upcoming pictures.  :-)
